“Natural products have always been important to me."

Based in Augusta, all of Kamari’s Blessings’ 100% natural, vegan-friendly shea butters, soaps, and more are hand made in Georgia. Owner Jasmine Merriweather started the business in 2019 after years of creating her own all-natural hair and skin products. We spoke with Jasmine about being a one-person band and what’s next for her small business.[

Tell me about Kamari’s Blessings.

Kamari’s Blessings is an online store that specializes in all-natural products like hand-whipped shea butters and natural soaps that I make myself, toothpastes, and deodorants for men and women.

I named the store after my daughter. We have 3 boys, but we always wanted a girl, so when Kamari was born it was a blessing.

I’ve been running the store for a year and a half, and it’s been exciting to see that customers love the products as much as we do!

Why did you decide to start your own business?

I’ve always loved dealing with natural products. Through the years, I’ve experimented with making products for my hair and skin, and I thought that if they worked for me other people would like them too. As the store has grown, I’m continuously adding more products.

What have been some of the biggest challenges of running your own business?

I’m a one-person band. My daughter loves to help me whip the shea butter, but other than that, I’m in charge of making the products, updating our website and social media, as well as packaging and shipping orders. As I’ve added more products, I make sure everything is in stock, keep in touch with suppliers, and respond to customers. So the biggest challenge is keeping the store organized and making sure that everything is running smoothly for customers.

How does TextNow help you with your business?

I started using TextNow as an affordable way to keep in touch with my kids and to teach them responsibility. When I started my business, I wanted customers to be able to contact me, but I didn’t want to give out my personal number. TextNow has been great because it keeps my business and my personal life separate.

I also love that I can pay once a year to lock in my number, with no other costs. It’s a convenient and affordable way to keep my business connected.

What’s coming up in the future for Kamari’s Blessings?

The business has been growing steadily, and I’m working on adding new products like car fresheners and natural juices. As things get back to normal, I’m also planning to open a physical store in Augusta and hopefully hire a couple of employees to help me run it.
